Today is the 134th running of The Kentucky Derby held at Church Hill Downs in Louisville Kentucky. It rained during the night so the track was listed as sloppy this morning, but the sun is starting to come out,and the track is back to being a fast track and the turf is good. It's about 2 hrs before the the start, and I'm watching the pre-race stuff on ESPN. Everyone dressed to the nines, with the women in their crazy hats drinking their mint juleps.
Every year I look at the list of horses and pick the one with the name I like the best. I have picked a few winners over the years...Funny Cide in 2003. Sunday Silence in 89 and Unbridled in 90.
This year my favorite name is Pyro...Why you may ask???..... I LOVE FIRE!....
So there! ....There is my pick for the 134 Run for the Roses at Church Hill Downs... :)~

And they're off.....So Big Brown won the race....He was expected to win....It was the jockey Kent Desorneaus third KD win.....
Bit of sadnes though.....The horse who took second place "8 Belles" broke both front ankles and had to be euthanized immediately..... So sad!
