Recently I was lurking on a board where they were talking about diets, and loosing weight. I so wanted to chime in ..... but being the lurker that I am...I did not respond.... I know some of you on the board read this blog....so I will chime away here... Why?....Because I Can!...

I have always been a petite person....Before I hit 30 I ate whatever I wanted without gaining an ounce....but in the past 10 years I have had to adjust my lifestyle to maintain a healthy, fit body. There have been times when my life gets so busy, and stressfull...I get off track and gain 10 - 15 lbs. That may not seeem like alot...but when you're 5 foot 1 1/4 inches (hey that 1/4 inch counts!) that small amount of weight really shows....
Ok...SO here is my take on the whole diet thing......They DO NOT work....Have you ever heard of any that keep working when you cheat, or go off them....and eventually you will ....Why??? Because you are depriving your senses of things you enjoy.
I have said it many times ....But here it is again..... Being Fit is for a lifetime..... not a fad diet, or pill that you can take for a coulple of months.... It's a change in your lifestyle....but it is well worth it. You Will loose the weight, feel better, and have way more energy. Here are some tips to get you on your way... :)~
1. Try not to eat that many processed foods...Items that come pre-cooked. Things in a box, can, or bleached..... Buy fresh meats, fish, fruits and veggies!!!
2. "Grazing" .....Eat smaller meals more often....or have healthy snacks between meals....Here is a link to a Vegetarian Times page that explains this style of eating...
3. Exercise..... 1 & 2 won't work without 3.....Exercise...Find what you like to do and.....like Nike says...... Just Do It!...Start off easy at first to avoid injury, and discouragement....Maybe just stretching in the morning.... or a nice brisk walk......Whatever it is slowly build up your workout.... . Believe it or not, exercising allows more oxygen to the brain, thus giving you more energy.
4. Remember not to deprive yourself !!!
Deprivation leads to binge eating....Eat the crap foods that you love every once in a while... or smaller portions more often!......I say Screw dieting....and live!!!!
