Ribs..Rain ...and Bees... :)~

Last night my softball game was ranined out....Or should I say stormed out....The weather report was calling for rain, hail, wind, thunder, and lightning since early in the afternoon. Those idiots in charge never cancelled the games....

As I drove south around 7:15 pm it just got darker and darker. No one from the other team showed....Neither did the Umps....I just can't believe that they still had the recorded message cancelling the guys games LAST Friday because of a little fog.....
but God forbid they pay attention to the All Day SEVERE WEATHER ALERT .....Urgggghhh......IDIOTS....At least they didn't charge us the $5 to get in the park....

The few of us that did show up went out to celebrate not loosing, Ha! Ha!, and Porter's B-day at a local bar....Great lightning show on the way home!!! I love thunder and lightning!!!
I got home earlier than usual, and was able to catch the last 10 min of the Scripps National Spelling Bee...I know, I know....Spelling Bee???......but I am a great speller if I do say so myself....Ever since grade school it has been like a game to me.....Kat uses me instead of the spellcheck on the computer...LOL

So anyway for the first time in 7 years a girl won the the Spelling Bee....In fact the last 3 contestants were girls!!!..... Katharine Close from New Jersey made her fith and final apperance last night. She won with the word "Ursprache".....I was actually routing for the runner up though.... Finola Mei Hwa Hackett from Canada...she stumbled on the word "Weltschmerz".....weltschmerz ....what the hell is a weltschmerz??? Are these words even in the ENGLISH dictionary......
Kudos to you girlz......GRLS RULE!!!!!

Ok, so I need to post a recipe.....Memorial weekend we went to Lisa and Walt's for a cookout. They have a smoker, and Walt made some ribs.....They were good and spicy, but I like sweet with my spicy.....I took some ribs home, and last night I made some pulled pork sandwiches. I just doctored up some bottled B-bq sauce with some brown sugar and simmered the shredded pork for 1/2 an hour. Here is a my recipe for ribs... :)~

Dry Rub
1 TB cumin
1 TB paprika
1 TB granulated garlic
1 TB granulated onion
1 TB chili powder
1 TB brown sugar
2 TB kosher salt
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp white pepper
dijon mustard
3 slabs ribs

Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
To prepare the ribs, remove the membrane from the back side of the ribs. Coat the entire racks of ribs with mustard. Then coat the ribs with dry rub. Coat well, then shake off excess.
Let the rib marinate in the cooler for 2 to 4 hours. Overnight if possible!
Heat smoker to 210 degrees F.
Put on the smoker for approximately 4 1/2 hours or until tender. Meat should pull off the bone, leaving bone clean. I like to finish them off on the grill slathered with some sweet B-bq sauce.
Rub will last for at least a month when properly stored in air tight container in the fridge.
